Money is a big part of life. We all need it. But handling money the right way is important. The Bible talks about money a lot. Last year, I learned some important things about money while reading my Bible. Some lessons were about saving. Some were about giving. Some were about working hard. The Bible does not just teach about prayer and faith. It also teaches us how to manage money. Here are five simple lessons I learned.
1. Hard Work Brings Prosperity
The Bible teaches that lazy people stay poor. People who work hard have more. Proverbs 10:4 says, “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.” This means if I want to have money, I must work hard. Money does not come for free. I need to be serious about my job and my business. Working hard helps me take care of my needs.
2. Avoid Debt Whenever Possible
Debt can make life hard. The Bible warns against it. Proverbs 22:7 says, “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” If I owe someone money, I must pay them back. But it is better not to borrow at all. Some debts, like school fees or a house loan, are okay. But borrowing for things I do not need is not wise. I learned to stop using my credit card for things that are not important.
3. Giving Brings Blessings
Some people think holding onto money is the best way to have more. But the Bible says giving brings more. Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” This means when I help others, I also get help. Giving can be tithes, offerings, or helping someone in need. I noticed that when I gave, I never lacked. Giving brings unexpected blessings.
4. Save and Plan for the Future
The Bible tells us to plan ahead. Proverbs 21:20 says, “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” This means saving money is wise. I learned not to spend all my money at once. It is good to have a plan. Joseph in the Bible saved food during the good years. Later, he had enough food when things got bad. Saving helps in hard times.
5. Trust God, Not Money
Money is not the answer to everything. 1 Timothy 6:17 says, “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” Money can disappear. Jobs can be lost. But God is always there. I learned to trust God first. He will take care of me.

The Bible has a lot to say about money. Work hard, do not borrow too much, give to others, save for the future, and trust God. These lessons helped me handle money better. The Bible is full of wisdom. If we follow what it says, we will have peace and blessings in our finances.
