You can spend all the time in church you want, but if you’re not actually following Jesus and letting Him change your life, you’re missing the point.
Jesus never said, “Attend church and you’re good.” He said, “Follow Me.” (Matthew 4:19) It’s not about where you sit on Sunday; it’s about whether you’re living your life the way He calls you to.
So, ask yourself: Are you living like Jesus is your Lord, or is church just a box you check off every week?
2. You Can’t Rely on “Good Works”
Listen, I know you’ve heard it before—“Do good things, help others, live a decent life, and God will be pleased with you.” But the truth is, doing good things alone won’t save you.

What Can You Do to Fix It?

Here’s the first thing: Be honest with yourself. If you’ve been treating church as a checklist, relying on your good deeds, or living like the world, it’s time for a change. You can’t keep pretending that everything’s okay when your heart is far from God.
Second, repent—which means turning away from your sins and asking God for forgiveness. Don’t just say, “I’m sorry,” and keep living the same way. Truly make the decision to change.
Third, surrender your life to Jesus. Don’t just say “I believe” and call it good. If you really believe, then follow Him. Walk in obedience. Let Him change you from the inside out.
Lastly, make Jesus your Lord. Not just your Savior, but your Lord. That means He has control over every area of your life. Your relationships, your money, your time—it all belongs to Him.
